Job Summary

Médecins Du Monde (MDM) is seeking an experienced HR Manager to oversee and coordinate all operational human resource functions in support of its humanitarian programs. The successful candidate will lead HR operations, recruitment, employee relations, payroll support, compliance, staff development, and workforce planning while ensuring adherence to organizational policies and Nigerian labour laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, personnel administration, and contract management.
  • Maintain employee records, HR databases, attendance, leave management, and payroll documentation.
  • Coordinate recruitment processes from workforce planning through onboarding.
  • Support employee engagement, performance management, staff development, and retention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, organizational procedures, and Nigerian labour laws.
  • Manage visa, work permit, and immigration processes for staff where applicable.
  • Coordinate staff travel, accommodation, and administrative support services.
  • Advise managers on employee relations, workforce planning, and people management.
  • Monitor HR metrics, prepare workforce reports, and provide operational HR insights.
  • Promote staff wellbeing, conflict resolution, safeguarding, and a positive workplace culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree is highly desirable.
  • Professional HR certification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years' progressive HR experience, including 2 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, HR policies, and best practices.
  • Experience in recruitment, payroll support, personnel administration, contract management, and employee relations.
  • Previous experience working in an NGO, INGO, humanitarian, or multicultural environment is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and travel within operational areas when required.
