Job Summary

Sage-Grey Finance Limited is seeking a resilient and results-driven Junior Loan Recovery Officer to manage debt collections and mitigate credit risks. Based in Lagos, the successful candidate will play a critical role in recovering overdue loans by employing ethical negotiation techniques, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. This role requires a strong financial background, exceptional emotional intelligence, and mandatory experience within a financial institution.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage assigned loan portfolios to identify overdue accounts and initiate recovery processes.


Contact defaulting clients to negotiate mutually workable repayment plans in alignment with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines.


Review and analyze loan documentation, credit files, and history to understand default circumstances.


Leverage recovery management software and CRM tools to track interactions, payments, and account statuses.


Collaborate with legal and risk compliance teams when legal frameworks need to be applied for debt recovery.


Handle high-pressure conversations with professionalism, maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.


2–4 years of experience in debt recovery, collections, credit risk, or banking operations.


Mandatory: Direct experience working within a financial institution.


Strong understanding of debt collection techniques, negotiation strategies, and loan documentation.


Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.


Familiarity with recovery tools, loan management systems, or CRM software is an advantage.


Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.


High resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to handle difficult or sensitive conversations.


Uncompromising integrity, confidentiality, and a strong ethical mindset.


Solid understanding of Nigerian legal frameworks and regulatory guidelines (specifically CBN circulars on fair debt collection practices).
