Job Summary

TERAWORK is hiring a Head of Accounts to oversee financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions within its FMCG/retail operations. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, audit readiness, and providing strategic financial insights to support management decisions.



Key Responsibilities

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and regulatory standards

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of financial reports

Provide financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making

Manage accounting systems (including QuickBooks/ERP platforms) and ensure data integrity

Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes

Oversee bank reconciliations and general ledger accuracy, resolving discrepancies promptly

Supervise accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate recording of liabilities

Maintain fixed asset register, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal tracking

Ensure proper IFRS-compliant accounting for Right-of-Use (ROU) assets

Strengthen internal control systems and ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies

Lead internal and external audit processes and manage audit issue resolution

Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team for improved performance



Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

ICAN or ACCA certification is mandatory

Minimum of 10 years accounting experience

At least 4 years in a leadership/managerial role

Experience in FMCG, retail, or high-volume transaction environments

Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax regulations, and internal control systems

Experience working with Big 4 audit firms is required

Proficiency in QuickBooks or ERP systems

Strong Excel, analytical, leadership, and communication skills
