Senior Compliance Officer

A growing digital bank is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to manage regulatory obligations and ensure full compliance with applicable laws and guidelines. The role involves proactively identifying compliance risks, strengthening internal frameworks, and supporting the organization’s commitment to transparency and regulatory integrity.

• Monitor and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and CBN guidelines
• Develop, implement, and update compliance policies, frameworks, and controls
• Conduct regular compliance risk assessments across all business units
• Oversee AML, KYC, and CFT programmes to ensure regulatory compliance
• Liaise with regulatory bodies including CBN, NDIC, and FIRS
• Coordinate regulatory examinations and manage responses to findings
• Track and ensure implementation of regulatory recommendations
• Provide compliance training and awareness programmes for staff
• Report compliance status and key risk indicators to executive leadership
• Support the Chief Compliance Officer in maintaining regulatory standards

• Minimum of 7 years’ compliance experience within a bank or licensed financial institution
• Strong knowledge of CBN regulations, BOFIA, AMLA, and Nigerian financial services laws
• Experience managing AML, KYC, and CFT compliance programmes
• Familiarity with digital banking and fintech regulatory frameworks
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or CIBN membership (advantage)
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills
• High attention to detail and strong professional judgement
