Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as visual field testing and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Measure and record patients’ visual acuity and intraocular pressure
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is sterilized, functional, and ready for use
- Collect patient medical histories and prepare patients for consultation with the ophthalmologist
- Educate patients on eye care practices, treatment plans, and medication usage
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper data entry into EMR systems
- Conduct contact lens evaluations and assist with fittings
- Support the fitting and adjustment of corrective eyewear
- Schedule patient appointments and manage daily clinic calendars
- Monitor medical supply inventory and arrange restocking when necessary
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure complete patient care
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology or optometry setting
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Good knowledge of common ophthalmic diagnostic equipment
- Strong patient care and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic understanding of ophthalmic medical terminology
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification
- Completion of a certified ophthalmic technician training program
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
