Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual acuity and visual fields
- Measure intraocular pressure and perform diagnostic eye assessments
- Diagnose eye conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and refractive errors
- Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses including spectacles and contact lenses
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for procedures such as cataract and refractive surgeries
- Carry out specialized diagnostic tests including OCT, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, and low vision assessments
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper eye hygiene
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient interactions
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals for patient management
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
- Valid license to practice optometry
- Previous clinical or hospital experience is an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic procedures and equipment
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Strong communication and patient care abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a clinical team environment
- Attention to detail and strong documentation skills
