Job Summary

Skipper Eye-Q Super Speciality Eye Hospital is seeking a skilled Biomedical Engineer to manage, maintain, and ensure the optimal performance of advanced ophthalmic equipment. The role involves supporting clinical teams by ensuring all diagnostic and surgical devices are properly calibrated, safe, and functioning efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamps, OCT machines, operating microscopes, excimer lasers, and phacoemulsification units
  • Install new medical devices and conduct pre-acceptance testing and calibration according to manufacturer standards
  • Ensure proper functioning and minimal downtime of all medical equipment used in diagnosis and surgery
  • Train medical and technical staff on the safe and effective use of equipment
  • Maintain accurate records, service logs, and equipment inventory
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements such as ISO and FDA guidelines
  • Conduct electrical safety checks and routine performance evaluations of devices
  • Manage service contracts and coordinate with external vendors for repairs and maintenance
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure availability of essential components
  • Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns across hospital operations when required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • 1–5 years of experience in biomedical engineering, preferably in a hospital or clinical environment
  • Experience with ophthalmic or surgical equipment maintenance is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical systems
  • Ability to use calibration and diagnostic tools effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to travel between hospital locations when necessary
  • Ability to respond to emergency technical issues promptly
