Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of vehicle components, systems, and assemblies
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and design modifications
- Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, functional, and manufacturing standards
- Supervise prototype development, testing, and validation processes
- Manage vehicle design projects from concept stage to production delivery
- Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and ensure delivery within budget
- Collaborate with production, quality control, procurement, and maintenance teams
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing stages
- Resolve design and production-related technical challenges
- Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and process improvement
- Stay updated with automotive industry trends and engineering standards
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate design engineers and technical staff
- Ensure proper documentation, revision control, and compliance with regulations
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- Master’s degree or professional certification is an added advantage
- 10–15 years’ experience in the automobile industry
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior or managerial design role
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and manufacturing processes
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management and communication abilities
