Job Summary

Bakangizo Pharmacy and Stores is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant / Audit Officer to oversee financial records, ensure compliance with internal controls, and conduct audits across all branches. The role focuses on maintaining financial accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and strengthening operational efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records across all branches
  • Track daily sales, expenses, and perform bank reconciliations
  • Record and manage transactions using ERP systems such as Odoo
  • Review payroll, process vendor payments, and monitor expenses
  • Reconcile cash, POS, and bank balances across locations
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts
  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled audits across all branches
  • Verify stock records, inventory movement, and warehouse balances
  • Ensure adherence to company financial policies and procedures
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and stock variances
  • Compile audit reports with clear findings and recommendations
  • Monitor and follow up on audit issues until resolution
  • Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance across branches
  • Identify potential fraud risks and suggest preventive measures
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping
  • Collaborate with branch managers and inventory teams on financial matters
  • Support ERP system implementation and compliance improvements
  • Train staff on financial processes and reporting standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is an advantage
  • 3 to 5 years experience in accounting or audit roles, preferably in retail
  • Strong understanding of accounting standards and audit practices
  • Experience using ERP systems, especially Odoo, is an added benefit
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and analytical ability
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to manage responsibilities across multiple locations
