Job Summary

Moniepoint is seeking an experienced Data Protection Officer to strengthen its privacy, compliance, and data governance framework. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA 2023) and other applicable global and local privacy regulations while supporting secure, ethical, and efficient data management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with data protection policies and frameworks in line with NDPA 2023, CBN regulations, and NDPC directives



Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and support regulatory data protection audits



Manage data subject rights requests including access, correction, deletion, restriction, and portability within required timelines



Oversee preparation and enforcement of privacy policies, retention guidelines, cookie policies, and related documentation



Conduct and review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for systems, products, and third-party vendors



Identify, assess, and mitigate privacy risks in collaboration with IT, security, and risk teams



Drive organisation-wide privacy awareness and training initiatives



Manage vendor due diligence and ensure proper Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) are in place



Monitor and manage data breach incidents, including documentation, investigation, and regulatory reporting



Ensure strong data security practices such as encryption, access controls, and audit logging are enforced



Support regulatory engagement with NDPC, NITDA, NCC, and other relevant authorities



Prepare compliance reports, filings, and responses to regulatory inquiries and audits

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field



7–10 years of experience in data protection, compliance, cybersecurity, or IT governance



Professional certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CDPO



Strong knowledge of NDPA 2023, NDPC regulations, CBN IT standards, and GDPR or similar frameworks



Experience in financial services or regulated industries is an advantage



Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills



High attention to detail and strong ethical standards



Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams



Familiarity with data governance tools and compliance systems
