Job Summary

LCPD is seeking an experienced Education Officer to support the implementation, monitoring, and coordination of education programmes across targeted communities in Yobe State, ensuring effective delivery in line with donor requirements, organizational standards, and humanitarian best practices.

Key Responsibilities

The Education Officer will work under the Project Lead to implement education interventions across selected LGAs, ensuring proper planning, stakeholder engagement, data collection, reporting, and alignment with education-in-emergencies frameworks and safeguarding principles.

Required Qualifications

  • Support implementation of education programmes across target communities in line with project design
  • Assist in developing Detailed Implementation Plans and contribute to project planning activities
  • Collect, manage, and analyze monitoring data to track output indicators and progress
  • Support preparation of narrative reports and documentation of project activities
  • Engage with community leaders, schools, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure buy-in and collaboration
  • Maintain strong working relationships with implementing partners and education authorities
  • Support coordination of LGA and State-level education stakeholder engagements
  • Contribute to timely and quality reporting in line with donor and organizational requirements
  • Assist in developing weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans and ensure compliance with targets
  • Support MEAL activities including assessments, surveys, baseline and endline studies
  • Ensure proper documentation of project achievements, lessons learned, and case studies
  • Support training, mentoring, and capacity building of learning facilitators and volunteer teachers
  • Promote safeguarding, accountability, and “Do No Harm” principles in all activities
  • Participate in progress review meetings and contribute to corrective action planning
  • Support complaints and feedback mechanisms in coordination with MEAL teams
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements

Skills & Competencies

  • Certified teacher (TRCN certification, B.Ed, or PGDE required)
  • Experience in education programming, preferably in humanitarian or emergency settings
  • Knowledge of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) or similar literacy/numeracy approaches is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and humanitarian principles
  • Experience working in Northeast Nigeria is highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills in English; Hausa language proficiency is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, and reporting tools
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments
  • Experience in training, coaching, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
