Job Summary

Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization dedicated to eradicating life-threatening hunger and improving nutrition across the world. With over four decades of experience, the organization has operated in nearly 50 countries, impacting millions of lives through relief and development programs. We are seeking a skilled Finance Officer to support our finance operations in Abuja and ensure compliance, accountability, and transparency across all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities


  • Coordinate and support all internal and external audit exercises by preparing and providing necessary financial schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Consolidate and submit audit samples, transaction listings, and financial ledgers in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an audit issue tracker and ensure prompt resolution of audit findings.
  • Review and process statutory deductions such as PAYE at the close of each payroll cycle.
  • Compile and consolidate monthly and annual payroll schedules for statutory filings.
  • Collaborate with Base Finance Managers to ensure accurate and complete filing across all project locations.
  • Receive, verify, and archive financial documents from field offices and ensure their alignment with electronic records.
  • Maintain proper documentation in both hard and soft copies for easy access and compliance.
  • Support the month-end financial closing process, including journal reviews, reconciliations, and data consolidation in SAGA.
  • Participate in cash counts, bank reconciliations, and ensure accurate month-end submissions.

Required Qualifications


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Finance, Administration, HR, or Logistics within the NGO or donor-funded sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial software such as SAGA.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; able to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Prior experience working with Action Against Hunger or other international NGOs is an added advantage.
