AFRICAN PITS & QUARRIES LIMITED is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to lead audits and strengthen internal controls across its mining operations. The role provides independent assurance on governance, risk management, and compliance across the mining lifecycle.
* Develop and implement a risk-based annual internal audit plan aligned with business priorities
* Lead operational, financial, and compliance audits, including site visits to mines and remote projects
* Evaluate and strengthen controls in drilling, blasting, extraction, processing, logistics, and sales
* Audit reserve estimation, CapEx tracking, inventory, and product sales
* Oversee audits on ESG compliance, regulatory permits, and royalty obligations
* Present audit findings to Executive Management and Audit Committee with actionable recommendations
* Track remediation actions and ensure accountability
* Mentor and guide Internal Audit team members
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s preferred)
* Minimum 7 years progressive audit experience, including 3 years in supervisory roles
* Direct audit exposure in mining, metals, construction, or heavy industry
* Professional certification required: CIA, ACCA, or ACA
* Experience conducting audits at remote or industrial sites
* Willingness to travel frequently to mine locations
* Strong understanding of mining operations and value chain
* Knowledge of ERP systems and data analytics tools
* Excellent communication and ability to simplify complex risks for leadership
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
* High ethical standards and independent judgment
