Job Summary

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking an experienced Protection Coordinator to lead technical strategy, programme quality, stakeholder engagement, representation and fundraising for its Protection sector in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of DRC Nigeria’s Protection technical strategy.
  • Provide technical guidance to programme and Country Office teams.
  • Review proposals, reports, assessments, evaluations, SoPs and technical guidelines.
  • Build the capacity of implementation teams and partners.
  • Monitor protection trends, incidents, alerts and sector challenges.
  • Represent DRC in relevant clusters, working groups and technical forums.
  • Engage donors, government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
  • Identify partnerships, funding opportunities and support fundraising efforts.
  • Develop advocacy, learning and knowledge products for the Protection sector.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Law, International Relations, Political Science, Social Work, Humanitarian Assistance, Sociology, Psychology or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Protection, including 3+ years at a senior technical level.
  • Proven proposal and report writing experience.
  • Experience developing/reviewing technical SoPs, guidelines, papers and analysis.
  • Experience representing organisations in clusters and working groups.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and advocacy experience.
  • Experience in Protection Monitoring, Case Management, PSS, Legal Assistance, GBV or Protection Advocacy is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian architecture and sector best practices.
  • Excellent English communication and analytical skills.
  • Master’s degree and French proficiency are advantages.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
