Job Summary



Cherokee Indian Hospital seeks a Tribal Option Assistant Operations Manager to support the overall management, coordination, and execution of Tribal Option operations. The role involves supervising staff, ensuring compliance with NC DHHS requirements, overseeing data systems, supporting audits, improving processes, and maintaining operational standards across departments.






Key Responsibilities

Assist the Tribal Option Operations Manager in implementing the vision, mission, and values of the Tribal Option program.


Collaborate across departments to ensure awareness of goals, expected outcomes, and continuous improvement opportunities.


Supervise assigned Tribal Option Operations staff, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development.


Develop, manage, and report Tribal Option data and ensure compliance with program standards.


Educate stakeholders and the community on the mission and vision of the Tribal Option.


Demonstrate strong knowledge of managed care, healthcare principles, and confidentiality requirements.


Support health plan functions and monitor operational compliance with standards.


Prepare, validate, and submit required reports and documentation.


Review, update, and implement policies and procedures in line with contractual requirements.


Assist with audits, reviews, and oversight of delegated functions.


Monitor dashboards, reports, operational policies, and platform functionality to maintain compliance.


Contribute to business and fiscal management by assisting with analytic reports and risk management processes.


Coordinate communication between CIHA departments, Tribal Option Managers, and external vendors.


Support technology updates, testing plans, gap analysis, and platform issue resolution.


Ensure timely reporting of sentinel events/incidents as required by law.


Create step-by-step guides and conduct training on tools and platforms.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA required; healthcare or health administration preferred).

Minimum five years of recent healthcare operations or management experience.

Minimum two years of managed care experience preferred.

Experience with healthcare audits or chart audits preferred.

Knowledge of Medicaid managed care and tribal healthcare preferred.

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, and managed care platforms.
