Legal Officer / Recovery Manager

Elizabeth Maddeux is seeking a Legal Officer / Recovery Manager to oversee legal affairs and manage the recovery of delinquent loan portfolios, ensuring compliance and minimizing credit losses.

Develop and implement strategies for recovering overdue and non-performing loans

Monitor and manage delinquent loan portfolios, negotiating settlements and repayment plans

Oversee collateral realization and enforcement proceedings

Track recovery performance and report on outcomes

Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal credit policies

Liaise with external solicitors, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities

Manage litigation processes and court filings

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, loan agreements, and legal documents

Provide legal advisory support to management and operational teams

Conduct legal research to guide business decisions and ensure corporate compliance

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification

4–7 years post-call experience in legal practice, loan recovery, or financial services

Experience in banking, microfinance, or financial institutions is preferred

Strong knowledge of debt recovery laws, contract law, insolvency, and financial regulations

Proven litigation and enforcement experience

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and legal drafting skills

Strong stakeholder management, attention to detail, and integrity
