Job Summary

HRLeverage Africa is seeking a meticulous and technically skilled Payroll Technical Specialist to oversee payroll systems, ensure statutory compliance, and deliver accurate salary processing. The role demands strong analytical expertise, system proficiency, and a thorough understanding of payroll regulations and reporting standards.



Key Responsibilities


Configure, administer, and maintain payroll systems to ensure operational efficiency


Process monthly payroll including salaries, bonuses, overtime payments, and deductions accurately and on time


Ensure full compliance with statutory obligations such as tax, pension, and other regulatory requirements


Reconcile payroll accounts and promptly resolve discrepancies


Prepare detailed payroll reports for management, finance teams, and regulatory authorities


Coordinate payroll system upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting activities


Provide payroll documentation and support during internal and external audits


Work closely with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure seamless payroll system integration


Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of employee payroll data





Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline


Three to five years of payroll administration experience with strong technical system exposure


Practical experience using payroll platforms such as SAP, Workday, Oracle, ADP, Sage, or similar systems


Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, and complex formulas


In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance and statutory regulations


Experience with HRIS and ERP system integrations


Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills


High attention to detail and accuracy


Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment


Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills


Demonstrated integrity and ability to handle confidential information
