Assistant General Manager, Mechanical (Hydraulics Specialist)

Dangote Group, one of Africa’s largest and most diversified business conglomerates, seeks an experienced Assistant General Manager, Mechanical (Hydraulics Specialist) for its Obajana Cement Plant. The ideal candidate will oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems within cement plant equipment, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards.

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of hydraulic systems in FLS Coolers, IKN Coolers, Loesche VRM, and OK Mills.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic system faults in Stacker/Reclaimer equipment, kilns, coolers, and raw/cement mills.
• Perform feasibility studies and technical assessments for hydraulic issues and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize hydraulic designs for improved performance.
• Conduct risk analysis and enforce safety measures in hydraulic system operations.
• Execute hydraulic calculations, simulations, and modelling to predict system behavior and performance.
• Supervise installation, inspection, and maintenance of hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Stay updated on hydraulic engineering advancements and apply innovative practices.
• Manage maintenance schedules, budgets, and resources for plant reliability.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialized Hydraulics training; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in cement plant hydraulic systems.
• Proven expertise in hydraulic operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic circuits, symbols, and relevant design software (AutoCAD, SAP, MS Office).
• Excellent understanding of fluid mechanics and hydraulic system principles.
• Project management experience and ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance and safety standards.
