Job Summary

The Lecturer II will support undergraduate teaching, research, and academic development in Accounting. The role involves delivering lectures, assisting with curriculum implementation, conducting research, and participating in departmental and university academic activities under appropriate supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Accounting and related areas
  • Assist in course coordination and curriculum delivery in line with NUC BMAS
  • Conduct research and publish in reputable academic journals and conference proceedings
  • Participate in continuous assessment, examinations, and grading of students
  • Assist in supervising undergraduate projects
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and academic activities
  • Contribute to accreditation, quality assurance, and professional development activities
  • Engage in community service and professional practice where applicable
  • Perform any other academic duties as assigned by the Head of Department or University Management

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Ph.D in Accounting from a recognized university
  • Evidence of specialization in areas such as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Public Sector Accounting, or Accounting Information Systems
  • At least two (2) years teaching or relevant professional experience in a tertiary institution or accounting firm
  • A minimum of two (2) scholarly publications in reputable journals or conference proceedings


Skills & Competencies

  • Good teaching and classroom management skills
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ICT tools (e.g., Excel, accounting packages, e-learning platforms)
  • Ability to conduct basic academic research and contribute to publications
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Commitment to academic ethics, accuracy, and professional standards
