Job Summary

The Lecturer II will support teaching, research, and academic development within the Department of Mass Communication. The role involves delivering lectures, assisting in curriculum implementation, conducting research, and participating in departmental and university academic activities under appropriate supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Mass Communication and related areas
  • Assist in course coordination and curriculum implementation in line with NUC BMAS
  • Conduct research and publish in reputable academic journals
  • Supervise undergraduate students’ projects (where applicable)
  • Participate in continuous assessment, examinations, and grading
  • Contribute to departmental meetings, committees, and academic activities
  • Participate in accreditation, quality assurance, and community service activities
  • Perform any other academic duties as assigned by the Head of Department or University Management

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Ph.D in Mass Communication or a closely related discipline from a recognized university
  • Evidence of specialization in Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations, Advertising, Development Communication, or New Media Studies
  • At least two (2) years of teaching or relevant professional experience in a tertiary institution or media organization
  • A minimum of two (2) scholarly publications in reputable journals or conference proceedings

Good teaching and classroom management skills

Strong written and oral communication abilities

Basic research and academic writing skills

Ability to use ICT tools and e-learning platforms for teaching and assessment

Willingness to learn, grow, and work under academic supervision

Good interpersonal and teamwork skills

Commitment to academic ethics and professional standards
